The C-list: your glowing guide to vitamin C skincare

Brighter skin, fewer dark spots, a lit-from-within look…

Vitamin C remains one of skincare’s greatest overachievers. But with so many products out there, how do you pick the right one? We asked the experts and rounded up the best, from clinical serums to organic creams.

If there’s one ingredient that’s earned its place on almost every dermatologist’s recommend list, it’s vitamin C. It fights free radicals, boosts collagen, fades pigmentation, and generally makes your skin look like it just came back from a very good holiday. The catch? It’s notoriously tricky to formulate. In its pure form, L-ascorbic acid, vitamin C degrades quickly when exposed to light, heat, or air, which means plenty of products lose their punch before you’ve even reached the halfway mark of the bottle.

The good news is that formulators have gotten clever. Stable derivatives, fresh-activation systems, and next-gen encapsulation technology mean the vitamin C products available today are more reliable, more effective, and more skin-type friendly than ever. Here’s what the experts say — and the edit to shop.

“It’s not always true that a higher percentage of an ingredient creates a more effective product. Using the correct concentration of each ingredient delivers the desired efficacy while avoiding unnecessary irritation.”
Katherine Daniels Co-Founder & Skincare Specialist Kirsti Shuba

It’s a point worth remembering when you’re faced with a shelf full of serums shouting their percentages: more isn’t always more. Studies have shown concentrations above 20% vitamin C may increase the risk of irritation. Getting the formula right matters far more than hitting a headline number.

With than in mind, the Elysium team tried some of the best vitmin C skincare products our there.
