Two women in bikinis and sunglasses laugh together at the beach, holding colourful summer drinks with straws and garnishes. The sun shines brightly, creating a relaxed, summery atmosphere as they keep cool by the shore. Out-of-focus umbrellas and beachgoers are visible in the background.

Summer drinks that’ll help you keep your cool

“Summertime and the living is easy,” as the old song goes. Ella Fitzgerald clearly wasn’t going through a fifth heatwave and amber weather warnings when she sang this.

Paloma Lacy · Food and Travel

Temperatures have reached mid-to-late 30s across the country. My strategy for remaining cool is to keep all windows and curtains closed during the day, until the temperature cools in the evening. It’s then time then to open all the windows and let all the lovely cool, sweet, air in.

This is also the perfect time to spend a few hours in the garden and enjoy the good weather, away from the boiling heat of the day.

Here is the Elysium Lifestyle Magazine‘s guide to seasonal tipples that’ll help us all keep cool. We’re warned about remaining hydrated and going easy on alcohol so here are some 0% alcohol options that’ll make your taste buds zing.

PrePear – 100% Korean Pear Juice

PrePear is pure pear juice from Korea, preserving the natural compounds of the fruit. Each 100% natural pouch is rooted in Korean wellness traditions. It’s vegan and free from preservatives, added sugar and artificial flavours – just one ingredient, at its purest.

Chill in the fridge for maximum crispness and serve over ice. The nutritional value is so great, it allegedly supports the body prior to alcohol consumption so win: win.

A yellow-and-white pouch labelled “PRE PEAR” lies on a speckled surface, surrounded by sliced pears, green leaves, a lipstick, glassware with drinks, a whole pear, and yellow crockery, creating a bright, fresh scene.

Available from Ocado.com. 120ml pouch at £2.70.

Trash – Superfruit Water

Don’t be put off by the name – Trash is an upcycled super fruit water made from 30% rescued cacao fruit (not from concentrate) and 70% water, with 40mg vitamin C, 150mg potassium, and 28mg magnesium per can. It’s also packed with electrolytes, minerals, and antioxidents. It’s also low calorie, with no added sugar.

A hand holds a can labelled “Trash superfruit water” next to a colourful box with the same branding and fruit illustrations. The box says, “Waste never tasted so good.” Both items are set against a plain white background.

Around 70% of the cacao fruit is discarded at source in chocolate production. Globally, 2.5bn tonnes of food is wasted each year. British Chocolatier Choc On Choc decided to put this waste to good use.

Farmers benefit too, earning around 30% more income per cacao pod when the whole fruit is used.

RRP £3 per 250ml can. Available online at www.trashdrinks.com, Selfridges, Panzer’s Deli in St John’s Wood, and Gymnasium Deli in Twickenham.

A bottle of sparkling pear cider with a white label stands on a stone surface outdoors, surrounded by pebbles and tall grass in soft sunlight. The bottle is sealed with black foil and features an elegant gold cursive letter on the neck—an inviting choice among refreshing drinks perfect for summer beverages.

Norman Soul – Sparkling Pear Drink

And for those who fancy something a little stronger, pears are everywhere this year. Norman Soul is a sparkling pear drink, with naturally produced bubbles. It looks and feels like a glass of fizz, but it’s only 4.5% ABV – less than half the alcohol of most wine. Made from 100% organic pears from Calvados.

Easy drinking and refreshing by the glass.

Available to purchase at £14.95 for a 750ml bottle. www.normansoul.co.uk.

MOTH Cocktails

Cocktail making in an art. It’s so easy for the inexperienced to get it wrong. If in doubt, leave it to an expert. I’ve tried so many pre-made cocktails in recent years and very few live up to the high quality of MOTH: It gives canned cocktails a good name. The brand has expanded its range to include:

  • Paloma
  • Negroni
  • Margarita

  • Spicy Margarita
  • Passionfruit Martini
  • Pina Colada

  • Cosmopolitan.

A silver tin with a black label reading: “MOTH: MARGARITA, TEQUILA, TRIPLE SEC, LIME, 14.9% VOL.” in large grey text. Perfect for summer drinks, this tin features a white logo at the bottom right and a vertical yellow stripe along the left side—just remember to keep cool and enjoy responsibly.

These are cocktails that even mixologists would stand by, Pour into a glass and enjoy.
