Now 44, Lucy began her PR career at just 23. Below, Lucy shares how her journey started, how her business has evolved, and how it continues to go from strength to strength.
No safety net. No investors. No plan B.
I started Cosmetic PR in 2014 as a single mum with absolutely nothing behind me financially. At the time, I was living on a £5-a-week food budget, raising my baby, and figuring things out day by day. What I did have was drive, instinct and a very clear belief that I could build a better life for us.
I saved £800 to buy a laptop and started from scratch.
A Gap in the PR Market
I quickly spotted a huge gap in the market for PR that genuinely understood medical aesthetics, not generic beauty or lifestyle coverage, but specialist PR for clinics, doctors and brands working at the highest level. That gap became my niche, and Cosmetic PR was born.
Over the years, the agency has grown into a leading name in aesthetic-focused communications, working with some of the most respected doctors, clinics, educators and brands in the industry. What started at my kitchen table has become a business known for shaping reputations, building authority and turning expertise into real visibility.
In 2022, I took the business global and set up Cosmetic PR in Dubai. Today, I’m bringing the first major aesthetic industry awards to the region, hosting the Diamond Awards Dubai at Atlantis The Royal, bringing together over 500 of the industry’s most influential clinic owners, doctors, surgeons and brands.
Alongside this, I’m launching The Aesthetics Edit, a new platform designed to spotlight credible experts, innovation and excellence within aesthetics.
I built this business from nothing, as a single mum, by trusting my instincts, backing myself and refusing to play small. Cosmetic PR isn’t just an agency, it’s proof of what’s possible when you see a gap, have the courage to step into it, and don’t stop.
