From Dessert to Décor: Pistachio is the colour trend taking over the interiors world, and we’re nuts about it
By Elizabeth Hayman · · 4 min read
First came the Dubai chocolate craze, sparking a global obsession with all things pistachio. Before long, pistachio-infused desserts, drinks and sweet treats were impossible to escape. Now, the trend is taking a stylish new direction as the soft green shade makes its mark on the interiors world. From elegant upholstery to chic home accessories, pistachio is proving to be the colour of the moment, offering a fresh yet timeless update for every room.
Pick your palette…
Pistachio is one of the most versatile greens in interiors because it can read as fresh, sophisticated, vintage, or contemporary depending on what you pair it with.

Pistachio + Warm Oak + Cream
This is the easiest editorial combination.
- Pistachio walls, cabinetry, or upholstery
- Natural oak furniture
- Cream linen curtains and textured rugs
- Aged brass lighting
The result feels calm, expensive, and timeless, similar to modern Scandinavian and Belgian-inspired interiors.
Pistachio + Burgundy
Fashion editors love this pairing because it balances freshness with depth.
- Pistachio sofa or walls
- Burgundy cushions, artwork, or occasional chairs
- Walnut wood
- Brass details
The contrast creates a sophisticated, magazine-worthy look.
Pistachio + Chocolate Brown
One of the strongest 2025–2026 design trends.
- Pistachio cabinetry
- Dark brown timber
- Brown leather seating
- Travertine or limestone surfaces
This feels grounded and luxurious without being heavy.

Pistachio + Dusty Pink
A softer, more romantic direction.
- Pistachio walls
- Blush or dusty rose upholstery
- Cream and ivory textiles
- Curved furniture forms
The colours are analogous, so the space feels harmonious rather than contrasting.
Pistachio + Black Accents
For a sharper contemporary look.
- Pistachio backdrop
- Matte black lighting
- Black-framed artwork
- Smoked glass and stone
The black anchors the softness of pistachio and prevents it from looking overly sweet.
Pistachio + Natural Stone
Interior designers often combine pistachio with:
- Travertine
- Limestone
- Calacatta marble
- Onyx accents
The mineral tones bring richness while keeping the palette natural.
Pick your room…
As much as I adore these creamy pistachio tones, I’m not suggesting you turn every room into a green extravaganza. Like any colour, it works best when used with intention. In a bathroom, for instance, pistachio can sometimes feel a little cool unless balanced with richer, warmer accents such as deep burgundy or oxblood. Some of the most beautiful kitchens I’ve lived with have been painted in soft green shades, where the colour feels both timeless and inviting. Equally, living and dining spaces provide the perfect canvas, bringing a sense of freshness and understated elegance without overwhelming the room.
