Together with my husband and two sons, we went for a five-day break to stay at Wynholme, a holiday cottage on the so-called Champagne Coast in Norfolk.

I think it is called this because it’s not far from the Sandringham Estate down the road.

It is definitely full of horsey and doggy people! I’ve never known such a dog-friendly area, so if you have pooches you can pretty much take them anywhere with you.

The beaches in Norfolk are stunning!

From Holme-next-the-Sea to Brancaster, Holkham (the royals’ favourite), and Wells-next-the-Sea, you can walk for miles on the golden sands!

The restaurants and pub dining are pricey and posh, but there’s lots to choose from and the food is great.

Food and Drink

The Gastro Pubs

A cozy, well-lit inn named Wynholme with stone walls and large windows welcomes you to make memories. Warm lights glow indoors and along the curved terrace, while greenery covers the sloping roof and landscaping around the building.

The White Horse at Brancaster Staithe and the White Horse at Holme next the sea are both fabulous, with great food and rooms to stay.

A rustic brick and stone pub with a red-tiled roof stands under a clear blue sky. The sign reads "White Horse." Guests staying at Wynholme can enjoy outdoor seating with tables, chairs, and white umbrellas on the patio and lawn.

NoTwenty9 – Bar & Restaurant

Also for a buzzy vibrant atmosphere no 29 Burnham market is a great night out!

A cozy Wynholme pub lounge with leather chairs and sofas, wooden floors, candles on tables, a fireplace, and black-and-white art. Make memories by the large clock above the mantle. "Great British Pub Awards 2024 Winner" badge in the top right corner.

The kids loved it!

Keeping children happy was surprisingly easy with crab fishing in Wells-next-the-Sea, which one of my sons, who has a passion for anything that moves, loved.

A crowd of people, including children and adults, stands along a harbor railing on a sunny day, some staying at Wynholme accommodation nearby. Small boats are moored to the right, with a stone building and blue sky in the background.

Also, Hunstanton has a Sea Life Centre and even some arcades.

Let’s not forget the Wash Monster

An amphibious vehicle on wheels that turns into a boat trip which goes out to visit the seals. My boys loved it!

The Deer Farm!

A group of reddish-brown deer with velvet-covered antlers stand closely together on green grass at Wynholme, some looking up toward the camera. The bright, alert deer in front has large, velvety antlers and dominates the foreground—perfect for your stay.

A curious stag with velvety antlers looks up at the camera near Wynholme, surrounded by other deer grazing on lush green grass—an inviting scene for anyone staying at this unique accommodation immersed in nature.

Snettisham Deer and Farm Park is also close by, where you can go on a deer safari and see baby lambs!

Staying at Wynholme

Wynholme itself is a fabulous place to stay, just outside the stunning village of Holme-next-the-Sea.

A glass-top outdoor table at Wynholme features four white mugs, a teapot, cookies, and a magazine. Cushioned wicker chairs invite relaxation, while green leafy plants and an out-of-focus background create a welcoming accommodation setting.

So spacious, with four bedrooms sleeping eight, a stunning open-plan kitchen and orangery, and three huge TVs if you get a rainy day.

Just down the road is the Thornham Deli with its great cosy atmosphere, delicious food and lots of dogs!

Wynholme is a great house for taking all the family, in a great location and close to amenities!

Logo for "Norfolk Hideaways" featuring a seashell as the 'o' in "norfolk." Text below reads "coastal and country holiday retreats—make memories at Wynholme." The design uses simple, modern fonts in shades of gray on a white background.

Booking online is easy on the Norfolk Hideaways website and a complimentary starter pack is provided on your arrival, which includes essentials such as tea, coffee, sugar and milk.

Aerial view of patchwork farmland with green fields, brown plowed land, and scattered houses. Hedgerows divide the landscape, and Wynholme accommodation offers a charming rural staying experience near a distant coastline beneath a cloudy sky.

A pair of elegant high-heeled shoes with pointed toes, covered in shiny red fabric and intricate multicolored floral and paisley patterns, sits on a dark wooden floor—perfect for embracing your style through menopause with natural management.
